- Due to incorrect hosting configuration settings.
- Due to damaged or incorrect .ND file.
- The server hosting the company file or the IP address of the system cannot be obtained by QuickBooks.
- The incoming or outgoing communication of the company file is blocked by the firewall.
Methods to fix the error
Method 1 : Check the hosting settings on Quickbooks.
You might face this issue if both the computers are hosting the same file.
- Open Quickbooks on both the system that are configured as the multi-user.
- On both the PC select the File and select the Utilities>Stop Hosting Multi User Configuration.
- Then turn on hosting on any one of the PC by File > Utilities > Host Multi User Configuration.
- After that restart both the Quickbooks.
Method 2 : Location of Quickbooks Folder has to be changed.
- Create a new folder in the hosting computer, then share it, and set the Windows access permissions to share company files.
- Copy the .qbw file to the new folder.
- In multi-user mode open your company files.
Method 3 : Create an Exception in Firewall Settings.
- Select Start and then select Control Panel.
- Search for Firewall Settings in the Control Panel.
- Select the Firewall Settings and then select on Allow a Program through Firewall.
- Select on Add Program and then add Quickbooks 20xx to the exception list.
- To ensure changes are applied correctly restart your computer.
