- Error 6190, 82: QuickBooks was unable to open the file [patchfilename] on the host” when opening a file on a Linux server.

This error caused by a mismatch between the transaction log file (.tlg) and the company file (.qbw). It also occurs when company file is copied to a different computer and updated without the associated transaction log file.

QuickBooks Version 10
If you are using QuickBooks version 10, perform the following steps to resolve the problem:
If possible you have installed Point of Sale on client system and not server. If this is the first installation, then you need to uninstall the Point of Sale and again reinstall it on a server computer. To check that client and database server both are running properly or not:
- Stop all the running applications.
- Now restart your system.
- Open Point Of Sale.
If the problem is still there:
- Quit Point of Sale.
- Click to ‘Start’ button on your PC, and then tap ‘Run’ option under ‘All Programs’ -> ‘Accessories’
- Type services.msc and click ‘OK’.
- Right-click ‘QBPOS Database Manager v10’, and then click ‘Restart’.
- Make a right-click ‘Intuit Entitlement Service v6’ and the click ‘Restart’.
- Open Point of Sale.
However, if you find that the problems persist then follow the solution that is recommended by option Intuit.
