I am a regular user of MS Excel and recently I have encountered an error which was ‘Excel 2013 has stopped working’. Whenever I opened Excel worksheet, it crashes and showed me this error. It is very irritating and so I have decided to resolve it. Following are the steps mentioned below to fix this error:
Change your Default Printer:
It is one of the common reasons of Excel crash as whenever we start MS Excel it automatically starts to communicate with the default printer it always identifies margins and if this communication fails then it shows such kind of error. In order to resolve it there is a great need to change the default printer.
In order to change the default printer in windows, Go to start button> Control Panel> “Devices and Printers” > Set as default printer.
Install Printer Driver again:
Same issue happened to me also when I bought a new printer and installed a corrupt driver from Internet. It is quite possible that the same issue is happening with your driver also and a corrupted driver start to corrupt all programs associated to it. It may also a very big reason of Excel corruption. In order to fix this issue there is a need to uninstall your printer’s driver and reinstall it. It will resolve the issue and your Excel starts working.
Change the user mode as Administrator:
You can also try this solution to resolve this issue, may be it will work. The only thing you have to do is to start your system with administrator account. Most of the times, we are required to do some work for which the admin permission is required.
In order to start your PC as an administrator, right click to the application on start menu and select ‘Open as Administrator’.
Start Excel in Safe Mode:
Sometimes the above mentioned solution doesn’t work. Some of the issues are not related to printer and so we have to solve the issue according to the requirements. I have noticed add-in problems with Excel 2013 and most of the times, add-ins are also a reason for Excel crash. You can also try this solution:
In order to fix this issue, open your Excel in Safe Mode because it would not open with any application that may crash it. We can also remove add-ins. In order to start this, press windows key + R key that will open a ‘Run Window’. Type ‘Excel.exe/safe’ in the text box and then go to the bottom part and then choose ‘COM Add-ins’ click to ‘Go’ and then you will get the list of ‘add-ins’. Now the next things you have to do are to un-check all the buttons and restart the applications. You can also check the button if you want any application to start with Excel.
Repairing Process:
You always have to perform a repairing process to fix the issue whenever your Excel file is damaged or corrupted. MS Office provides you an option for repair; you just have to select that. In order to choose the repair option, open Control Panel > Programs and Features > Microsoft 2013 and click ‘Change’. A new window will open where you can select repair and start the process.
Re-installation:
One of the best and the easiest methods to fix all the issues with any software is to reinstall the program. This method is used by most of the users. This method can also be tried so that it will make your software error free. Microsoft has an option of un-installation where you just have to click it and it will un-install. You can now install a fresh MS Office and start working after this process.
In this way you can try these solutions and it may easily repair the solution. You can also try Microsoft Excel Repair Tool in order to fix this issue. This recovery software can easily recover and repair all kinds of issue related to it.
