Solve error message that occur while closing Ms Word file

Have you ever got any error message while closing or while working on Ms Word file? If you are use Word file, then you must be knowing that it is one of the best application of Microsoft Office, that help users to write and create story, novels, letters, etc. It also comes with excellent features helping users in correcting word of any misspell word, framing sentence with correct grammar, etc. But sometimes Ms Word application throws specific error and thereafter you can’t access or work on your Word file.
Users who deal with word file on daily basis must have face error message, but if you have not got any error message then you are lucky enough. But I have found in most of the forums and community where Ms Word users have thrown so many questions related to its error messages. One of the error message that most of the Ms word users faces after completing their work and when they finally close the Word file the below mentioned error get reflected which is shown in the picture.
You might get shocked because Word file was working all file till now and suddenly it ha stopped working and you are not able to do anything about it on how to solve this issue. Here are some solution that is mentioned below to fix this problem.
Solutions
1 – Repair MS Office program – Repairing MS Office application sometimes help in solving this problem. For repairing Ms Office follow below steps:
- Click ‘Start”, go to “Control Panel” and then go to “Program and Features”
- Click on “Office 2007/2010 application”.
- Click on “Change” and then click on “Repair”
Once the repairing process complete, restart your computer and check if error still persist or not. If it still persists then follow the next solution.
2 – Disable Add-In – Sometimes Ms Word stop working and throws such error message due to particular add-ins. Disabling the Add-In might fix the problem. Follow the below step to disable add-in:
- Open Word file, go to “File” and click “Option”
- Then click on “Add-Ins”, and then click “Go”
- Click to clear the Send to Bluetooth checkbox and then press “OK”
Now check your Word file whether the problem is solved or not. If problem still occurs, then disable all Ad-Ins. Because some add-ins automatically gets installed through other software and create problem. To fix this problem open your Word file in safe mode. Steps to follow to remove all add-ins in safe mode.
- Click on “Start’, open “Run” and type winword.exe /a
- Then open your Word file.
- Click on Microsoft Office icon, then go to Word Options and then go to Add-Ins
- Now disable all Add-Ins.
If the problem yet not solved then you can follow the next solution.
3 – Install the latest updates for Microsoft Office – Most of the times this problem can be solved by simply installing the updates of Ms Office version that you are using. You can follow the below steps to install the latest updates:
- Click on “Start” go to “Control Panel” and then click on Automatic Updates
- Now look for latest updates and install them.
If installing Office updates does not fix the problem then you can follow the next solution.
4 – Delete the Registry Key – Sometimes deleting Word Data Registry Key can easily solve this error message. Follow and delete the Word Data key depending upon the version:
- For Word 2010:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice14.0WordData - For Word 2007:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoft Office12.0WordData
After deleting Registry Key, restart your Word files and check if problem is solved or not. If it is not solved then you can follow the next solution that is recommended by expert.

Step 3: He/she could easily saw the preview of the scanned file just by clicking on the file in both ‘Full document; and ‘Filtered text’ formats by clicking the tab given on the middle pane of the window.
Step 4: If the scanned word file sis a*.doc file, then there will a available preview in “Raw text” format along with the ‘Filtered Text’ formats and ‘Full Document’ and ‘Filtered Text’ formats.
Step 5: For repairing, user need to simply click on the click on the ‘Start Repair’ option. Then they need to make selection of the option for saving their file from ‘Save Document’ dialog box and thus click ‘Ok’ button.
